Khalid Mahmood Mithu is a man of multiple talents. He was born in Dhaka, Bangladesh on January 1st, 1960. He earned his MFA from Institute of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka in 1986. Simultaneously, Mithu is an internationally known filmmaker whose "Glow of the Firefly" has just been shortlisted for the 2015 Oscars in the Foreign Film category.
Mithu has done 10 solo painting and photography exhibitions in Bangladesh, the United States, and Japan. He has taken part in 134 major group exhibitions in the United States, England, Canada, Australia, Netherlands, France, Nepal, China, India, Japan, Korea, Slovenia, Germany, & Bangladesh.
He also has made 150 musical programs, 30 fiction movies (50-90 min.) and many documentary films. Mithu has achieved a very good reputation as oscar-nominated film director and has won 29 prestigious awards in categories for The Best in Film Directing, Scriptwriting, Painting, Photography, and Cinematography.
His most important awards include: Excellence Award of Art Mirai International Art Exhibition by Metropolitan Art Museum, Tokyo, Japan 2005. All media Best Award, Florida, U.S.A 1997. Best Award on Experimental Painting, Institute of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka 1988. National Awards on photography in 1986, 89, 91, and 92. Best Film Director Award in 2000, 2001, 2003, and 2004. Best Scriptwriter Award in 2003.
