Goutam Chakraborty
Goutam Chakraborty studied at Shantiniketan, the pre-eminent center of Bengali arts education in West Bengal, India. He graduated from the Institute of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka.
Throughout his career, Chakraborty has paid intense attention to detail with complex and wonderful results. Chakraborty held his very first solo exhibition in 1992, and has since flourished as an artist. His most recent works cover a large mix of techniques, including miniatures, drawings, charcoal work, and oil paintings. These works have also been very focused and sequential, with images of elephants, cats, a moon-woman, and faceless people consistently making their way into his work.
Chakraborty is presently working as a freelance artist and runs his art gallery styled `Gallery Kaya' in Dhaka, Bangladesh. We will feature work from his 2013 solo exhibit, "Goutam Chakrabarty: I Am" which can be viewed in this Gallery Kaya album.
